LayerView

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 8 October 2026

This policy explains how the LayerView app for Android ("the app") and the LayerView website handle information. LayerView is published on Google Play by the developer account "Thanh Kaiba" ("we", "us").

In short: LayerView has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Your 3D models and G-code are opened on your device and are never uploaded to us. We do not collect, sell or share personal data.

1. Your files

You choose which files LayerView opens: with the system file picker, with "Open with", or by sharing a file to LayerView from another app. STL, OBJ, 3MF, G-code and ZIP files are read and rendered entirely on your device. The app has no server and never uploads your files.

Files you open are copied into the app's private storage so they stay in Recent and Library after the app that shared them withdraws access. Thumbnails are rendered on your device and stored next to them. Deleting a file in LayerView removes the copy and its thumbnail.

A file leaves the app only when you share an image of the current view. LayerView creates a PNG on your device and hands it to the app you pick in the Android share sheet; that app's own privacy practices then apply.

2. Information stored on your device

To work, the app keeps a small amount of data locally:

This data is not sent to us. If Android backup is turned on, your settings and the Pro flag are included in your Google backup; your imported files, their thumbnails and the library list are excluded. You can remove everything by clearing the app's storage in Android settings or by uninstalling the app.

3. Purchases (LayerView Pro)

LayerView Pro is a one-time in-app purchase processed by Google Play. Google handles payment and account details under the Google Privacy Policy; we never receive your card or payment information. The app asks Google Play whether Pro has been purchased on your Google account so it can unlock and restore Pro features. The Google Play Billing library uses a network connection for this, and this is the only network access the app has.

4. What we do not do

5. This website

The LayerView website does not use analytics, advertising trackers, accounts or cookies, and it loads no fonts, images or scripts from third-party services. Our hosting provider may process standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for a limited time to deliver and secure the site. Links to Google Play open an external website with its own privacy practices.

6. Children

LayerView is a general-audience tool for 3D printing and is not directed at children under 13. Because the app does not collect personal data, it does not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Security

Your files remain in Android's app-private storage. Purchase checks are handled by Google Play over an encrypted connection.

8. Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect in the app.
